Remodelling and extension of 1960s home, Nottinghamshire

Jayne Blakeman and Tim Morrison have climbed the property ladder in extra-quick time through renovating and improving previous homes. They have just completed the completed transformation of a 1960s three bedroom bungalow into a unique five bedroom contemporary home. The property benefited from a large third of an acre plot and the key challenge was making sure the home incorporated the outside spaces. The couple opted for an upside-down floorplan with the living spaces on the new top floor and the bedrooms below, spending £140000 on the scheme in total, which took seven months to complete.

REMODELLING DURING FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES

Two weeks ago ended up rearranging our bedroom and adding pieces of furniture and collectibles that were around the house. For 8 months I was hoping to start remodeling our bedroom. Ripping off border, painting, buying new comforter, and even new furniture (or painting our bedroom suite). My husband has been off of work for almost 10 months. At the moment, I am the sole provider for a family of five. My own paycheck has also gone down half of what I was making 10 months ago. So instead of ‘waiting’ for the funds, I really felt led to make my bedroom a sanctuary with what we have, moving items from one room to another, rearranging treasures and making little vignettes around the bedroom. Being content with what we have!!!

Nice View – Terrace Before and After remodelling in Chile

Here I show the terrace in my family’s house on the Chilean coast, South Pacific Ocean; you can see the difference before and after fixing. It took a lot of work, specially the foundations on the rock, lots of iron bars in the concrete for resistance. We gained width and length, also a flat leveled floor, and stone pillars. Other added things where landscape lights for a nice evening, a cement seat and a watering system.

Remodelling of 1970s home, Lancashire

Sometimes unloved homes just need someone with a bit of vision and it was Shaun Beverley who could see the potential in a 1970s detached home on a secluded plot that no-one seemed to be interested in buying. Shaun understood that the design of homes in the 1970s has many parallels with those built today — big, light rooms and strong rooflines and set about a programme of restoration, refurbishment and improvement that has resulted in an achingly stylish home. Shaun has fully embraced the 1970s interiors down to the leopard-skin wallpaper and created a chic, fun home that all of a sudden makes you think twice about unfashionable houses in your own area. Shaun spent £190000 (£883/m2) on the project.
